Description
At GERAB Kft., sustainability and innovation go hand in hand. Established in 1994 as a Swedish-Hungarian cooperation, the company has developed extensive expertise in environmental protection projects and plastic recycling technologies. Following ownership changes in 2000, GERAB expanded its activities by launching its own recycling investments and developing innovative solutions for composite plastic waste processing.
The company specializes in the recycling and transformation of composite plastic waste into durable, high-quality new products. Through its proprietary recycling technology, GERAB is able to process various composite plastic packaging wastes in an economically efficient and environmentally responsible way, contributing to the reduction of plastic waste ending up in landfills or the natural environment.
Based in Győr, Hungary, GERAB has become a leading manufacturer of eco-profiles and recycled plastic products for residential, agricultural, and construction applications. All products are manufactured from 100% recycled materials and are designed for long service life, combining environmental responsibility with practical functionality.
The production process includes shredding, grinding, extrusion, and pressing technologies to convert recycled plastic materials into robust finished products. The extruded products feature a durable outer layer with a lightweight internal structure, while pressed products provide a solid and compact composition. Depending on customer requirements, product colors can be customized using recycled colored plastic materials and additional colorants.
GERAB’s recycled plastic products offer excellent resistance to moisture, UV exposure, and non-corrosive oils, while requiring minimal maintenance. The materials can be processed similarly to wood, making them easy to saw, drill, screw, nail, and paint using conventional woodworking tools.
The company’s product range includes recycled plastic fence posts, vineyard supports, pergola structures, outdoor construction elements, composters, piers, public space installations, fishing docks, and other environmentally friendly applications. By transforming plastic waste into reusable and recyclable long-life products, GERAB actively supports the transition toward a circular economy and a more sustainable future.
The Carbon Accounting Model
The company’s environmentally responsible recycling process contributes to reducing the environmental burden caused by plastic waste accumulation and the consumption of virgin raw materials. By converting composite plastic waste into long-life products, GERAB helps avoid emissions associated with both primary plastic production and alternative waste treatment methods such as landfilling or incineration.
GERAB processes plastic waste streams through advanced shredding, grinding, extrusion, and pressing technologies, ensuring that discarded plastic materials are physically transformed into valuable new products suitable for industrial, agricultural, and residential applications. The company’s recycling activities support the continuous reuse of plastic materials while extending product life cycles and reducing the need for virgin resources.
Special attention is given to maintaining product durability, functionality, and material consistency throughout the manufacturing process. Depending on the intended application, recycled materials are processed into either lightweight extruded profiles with durable outer surfaces or solid pressed products with high structural stability.
The company recognizes that recycled materials may differ from virgin plastics in certain physical characteristics; therefore, continuous development and material optimization play an important role in ensuring reliable product performance and long-term usability.
Through the production of 100% recycled plastic products, GERAB actively supports sustainable resource management, waste reduction, and the development of environmentally friendly alternatives for construction, agriculture, and outdoor applications.
